Description
A lot of people know Final Cut Pro. But do you know what’s going on under the hood? How about the rest of the FCP Studio, specifically programs like Motion, Compressor and QMaster? Do you know MacOS like the back of your hand? Do you enjoy going out on the hunt for small utilities that can solve a specific problem? Do you find running MacOS from the command line interesting? Did you know that you could do that? Assuming that you know all of this already, then you should know about third party input/output cards for connection into baseband video systems too.
Speaking of baseband video, what is your understanding of signal flow? Can you stare at a CAD drawing and figure out how everything in a rack is connected? Do you know what SDI and HD-SDI data rates are? Do you know what the difference between balanced AES and unbalanced AES is? Would you be comfortable diagnosing a problem with a firewire converter?
Are you willing to travel at the drop of hat? Our uplink facility is approximately five hours from Milan and will need to visited on both regularly scheduled visits and unexpected visits. In addition, you’ll be called upon to perform IP network maintenance in both Milan and Rome if such a need arises. Experience with terminal applications is a plus.
Studio experience is also required. Your familiarity with the functions of studio cameras, audio, lighting boards, transmission equipment and terminal gear is a plus. Understanding video signal flow is a necessity.
Lastly, field production. Your responsibility is to chorale the HDV field camera packages and make sure that they are a) functioning, b) setup correctly, c) batteries charged, d) taught to users.
On top of all of this, you must be customer service oriented. Your clients are the Post Production and Broadcast Operations. A positive attitude towards your job and willingness to respond quickly to problems is imperative. We’re looking for creative technical minds.
Skills
* Self Managing
* Post Production technology (Final Cut Pro/MacOS) background
* Experience with television production, studio cameras, lighting boards, intercom systems, video encoders and audio systems
* HDV cameras and field gear
* Basic understanding of IP networks
* Strong understanding of Italian television production culture
* Must be eligible to live and work in Italy
* Must be bilingual, the ability to speak both Italian and English is imperative
